[ He's drunk enough for that unabashed fondness to not bother him. Doesn't raise any flags at all, just looks like she's happy too and that's always a good thing. ] You're very impressive at most things. It's part of the reason I keep you around. Among others. There's lots of reasons and I make most of them up but that doesn't mean they're not true too.

[ Oh good because it's not going away. She's not really sure she could make it go away if she tried, so she's choosing not to try. At that last bit she tips her head back to lean on the armrest again, laughing. ] How can something be true if you're just making it up?

[ He might actually sort of turn so that his cheek is on your stomach, more or less facing her and the couch and continuing to just lie there. Happily. ] You can make up the truth, totally. Just because you're making it up as you go along doesn't mean it isn't what actually happened.

[ For a moment her hand stills on his face, caught in the gesture of brushing back his hair, and then she returns to her running of her fingers through his hair, her other hand dropping to his shoulder. She still looks pretty happy herself, so that makes two of them. ] Yeah? Like what?

You know. I mean, like. [ The vaguest of gesticulations that don't actually accompany anything he's saying because they don't happen at the right time. And they're vague. ] Like when you have a, a moment, and then afterwards you convince yourself something else about it. It might not have been like the way you remember it but it doesn't mean it wasn't like that anyway and you just didn't - [ Another hand wavey thing. ] - process it at the time. And either way, if it's how you remember it. [ Shrug. ]

And then shit like just working stuff out as you go. You know. Spontaneity. Stuff.

[ He's just being really adorable right now, honestly, and she's just watching him with a smile and trying to turn what he's saying into something a little more coherent in her head. She's not entirely sure if it's working. ] It feels a little like you're arguing for that thing where however you view the world is a valid way to view it even if it doesn't go with the reality of what happened.

[ Beat. ] Or you're just pretty drunk.

Well, no, because that sounds sort of dumb, and whatever I just said was totally reasonable. Not everything's subjective, because some people are just stupid and subject the rest of us to their ives and it's irritating. [ Sigh. Or just a deep breath, who knows. ] I am pretty drunk though. Like, really pretty. As drunk as I am pretty. Which is very.

People can get pretty stupid, yeah. I'm not sure what you said was entirely reasonable, but we can go with that. I'm sure it was reasonable in context. [ In the context of his drunken state. She totally is a drunk Tony whisperer. ] Mmhmm. You are very pretty, and you are very drunk. It's okay, though. You had a long day. Do you need some water?

Why would I want any water? Actually I kind of want another drink. They're up there aren't they? [ Pointing to the thing he's slumping near. Ish. He's pointing in the right direction, I just can think of where he is in relation to it anymore. ] Do you want one? I could totally make you one? We could both be drunk and pretty. It's really nice as long as you keep doing that. [ Gesture, to the way she's running her hand through his hair. ]

They are up there. I'm not sure you need another one, but if you really feel like you do. [ Just keeping up with running her fingers through his hair, because it's actually almost as soothing to her as it is to him and it's also really fun to watch his reaction to it. ] I'm fine, but thank you. Someone's going to have to get up if you want another drink, though.

[ Mmmm he's not sure he likes that circumstance. It's a good way to make him reconsider the idea. ] Are you sure? That somebody has to move? I'm pretty sure I could - I could get a robot for this. It might be worth it. We could stay like, right where we are. And still have a tasty drink. That's the whole point of things, right, to get what you want? That's why people do things.

[ Yeah, she's not overly fond of the idea either. She likes the weight of his head on her stomach and she likes touching him and she likes the way he's looking at her. ] I think that if you really need a drink, getting a robot to do it for you sounds like the best plan. I guess it's why people do a lot of things, yes.

At least it's a reason. Selfishness is... Better than having not any reasons at all. I guess that's not really selfishness though. Laziness is usually a reason not to do things instead of to do them. But it's usually one of the two. Sometimes both. Why do you do things?

[ She was just indulgently listening to him ramble, sorting through it in her head as she considered the various things, but then he asks her why she does things and she looks down at him, caught a little in surprise. ] Now? Because I like them.

[ He looks like a doped up cat when he smiles right now, slow and easy. ] I already know why you do me. Unless you mean like, not right now, now. Because I meant in general. You didn't like doing things before?

[ She really likes this smile, she'd like to keep it around for a while. Or forever. Maybe forever, and her own smile in return is similarly easy and unbidden. ] I was using a general now, but as it happens I do you because you too. [ Nails against his scalp, scratching lightly. ] I did what needed to be done, that's all. It didn't make it very fun.

[ He's unfortunately probably not going to be smiling tomorrow, at least for most of the morning. He's probably gonna be pretty pathetic in the morning, actually.

But right now though. Right now he just slides his eyes shut again and hums. Scratching, yes. ] Sounds like a good thing you're here now then. With me. You should stay here. With me.

[ It's okay, she knows how hangovers go. She'll provide aspirin and water and act as a pillow again if necessary.

But she's not really thinking about that right now. She's thinking about how uncharacteristically still he's being right now, here with her, and the fact that her hand in his hair tightens a moment almost instinctively possessively at that last sentence of his. You'd think this long into it she'd know better how she stood with him, but. ] Best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm not going anywhere. [ She's not sure why she let herself say that, other than that maybe because he's drunk, and she's completely at ease right now and not keeping as close an eye over what she says. ]

[ Because she's the total greatest. Hopefully he won't need that, and will just be able to wait it out himself. Hopefully his senses won't get fucked up too. He didn't precisely think this through beforehand. ]

Good. You're better here. Synergy, baby.

[ If you think everything through all the time life gets boring, right? Though her life philosophy could more be described as 'roll with the punches no seriously keep rolling with them you're about to get decked jesus fuck move faster'. She's adapting that to a more socially acceptable form of spontaneity is good for you. Anyways, he's got her now. His senses can try to get fucked up but she'll untangle them. ]

Gonna bring science into it now, huh?

I am present. Science was already brought. Science was totally here already. [ Absent-minded but appropriate tapping of the reactor under his shirt. It makes a muffled tink sound. ] Science is great. Should always be here.

[ It's a sound she's quite accustomed to now. Even the variations on it, really. It sounds different when he's doing it as a nervous gesture than it does when he's simply tapping it for emphasis, like now. ] I think we have a greater percentage of science being a thing than most people, definitely.

[ He keeps tapping out something vaguely arrhythmic on the cover as he sits and goes on. ] Lots of science. I like it. We should be more of a thing more often. With the science and stuff. What were we talking about before this?

[ She shakes her head at him, the hand not in his hair lifting to make a gesture of 'who knows' before she lets it rest back on his shoulder. ] I'm not really sure what you're getting at with we should be more of a thing with the science and stuff. We were talking about how I look better here than I do anywhere else.

[ Just a sort of amused noise at first. ] Neither do I. [ It's totally not a giggle. Maybe a little more than a huff. ] You look better than everything else. Conversation solved.
