Why would I want any water? Actually I kind of want another drink. They're up there aren't they? [ Pointing to the thing he's slumping near. Ish. He's pointing in the right direction, I just can think of where he is in relation to it anymore. ] Do you want one? I could totally make you one? We could both be drunk and pretty. It's really nice as long as you keep doing that. [ Gesture, to the way she's running her hand through his hair. ]

They are up there. I'm not sure you need another one, but if you really feel like you do. [ Just keeping up with running her fingers through his hair, because it's actually almost as soothing to her as it is to him and it's also really fun to watch his reaction to it. ] I'm fine, but thank you. Someone's going to have to get up if you want another drink, though.

[ Mmmm he's not sure he likes that circumstance. It's a good way to make him reconsider the idea. ] Are you sure? That somebody has to move? I'm pretty sure I could - I could get a robot for this. It might be worth it. We could stay like, right where we are. And still have a tasty drink. That's the whole point of things, right, to get what you want? That's why people do things.

[ Yeah, she's not overly fond of the idea either. She likes the weight of his head on her stomach and she likes touching him and she likes the way he's looking at her. ] I think that if you really need a drink, getting a robot to do it for you sounds like the best plan. I guess it's why people do a lot of things, yes.

At least it's a reason. Selfishness is... Better than having not any reasons at all. I guess that's not really selfishness though. Laziness is usually a reason not to do things instead of to do them. But it's usually one of the two. Sometimes both. Why do you do things?

[ She was just indulgently listening to him ramble, sorting through it in her head as she considered the various things, but then he asks her why she does things and she looks down at him, caught a little in surprise. ] Now? Because I like them.

[ He looks like a doped up cat when he smiles right now, slow and easy. ] I already know why you do me. Unless you mean like, not right now, now. Because I meant in general. You didn't like doing things before?

[ She really likes this smile, she'd like to keep it around for a while. Or forever. Maybe forever, and her own smile in return is similarly easy and unbidden. ] I was using a general now, but as it happens I do you because you too. [ Nails against his scalp, scratching lightly. ] I did what needed to be done, that's all. It didn't make it very fun.

[ He's unfortunately probably not going to be smiling tomorrow, at least for most of the morning. He's probably gonna be pretty pathetic in the morning, actually.

But right now though. Right now he just slides his eyes shut again and hums. Scratching, yes. ] Sounds like a good thing you're here now then. With me. You should stay here. With me.

[ It's okay, she knows how hangovers go. She'll provide aspirin and water and act as a pillow again if necessary.

But she's not really thinking about that right now. She's thinking about how uncharacteristically still he's being right now, here with her, and the fact that her hand in his hair tightens a moment almost instinctively possessively at that last sentence of his. You'd think this long into it she'd know better how she stood with him, but. ] Best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm not going anywhere. [ She's not sure why she let herself say that, other than that maybe because he's drunk, and she's completely at ease right now and not keeping as close an eye over what she says. ]

[ Because she's the total greatest. Hopefully he won't need that, and will just be able to wait it out himself. Hopefully his senses won't get fucked up too. He didn't precisely think this through beforehand. ]

[ If you think everything through all the time life gets boring, right? Though her life philosophy could more be described as 'roll with the punches no seriously keep rolling with them you're about to get decked jesus fuck move faster'. She's adapting that to a more socially acceptable form of spontaneity is good for you. Anyways, he's got her now. His senses can try to get fucked up but she'll untangle them. ]

Gonna bring science into it now, huh?

I am present. Science was already brought. Science was totally here already. [ Absent-minded but appropriate tapping of the reactor under his shirt. It makes a muffled tink sound. ] Science is great. Should always be here.

[ It's a sound she's quite accustomed to now. Even the variations on it, really. It sounds different when he's doing it as a nervous gesture than it does when he's simply tapping it for emphasis, like now. ] I think we have a greater percentage of science being a thing than most people, definitely.

[ He keeps tapping out something vaguely arrhythmic on the cover as he sits and goes on. ] Lots of science. I like it. We should be more of a thing more often. With the science and stuff. What were we talking about before this?

[ She shakes her head at him, the hand not in his hair lifting to make a gesture of 'who knows' before she lets it rest back on his shoulder. ] I'm not really sure what you're getting at with we should be more of a thing with the science and stuff. We were talking about how I look better here than I do anywhere else.

[ Just a sort of amused noise at first. ] Neither do I. [ It's totally not a giggle. Maybe a little more than a huff. ] You look better than everything else. Conversation solved.

[ Man he is just. He is so very drunk. It's amusing her in turn. ] Yeah? That's some compliment. I think I can go with that.

[ He is very drunk, yes. He'd been home for a while before texting her. ] Good, because, I'd just tell you again anyway. So it's good that you'll go with that.

[ She'd think she needs to talk to JARVIS about alerting if Tony comes home and just starts drinking immediately, but based on tonight maybe he'll just hit levels where he texts her instead of doing anything stupid. It could work, she supposes. ] Would you? Maybe I won't agree anymore so you do.

Now that's... [ He makes a gesture towards her that was probably supposed to be pointing his finger at her but... mostly wasn't. ] That's sssneaky. And underhanded. If you wanted compliments all you have to do is ask for 'em.

I can be extremely underhanded, something you're normally more aware of. [ She catches his finger with her free hand, twines their fingers together for a little bit. ] So if I were to ask for compliments right now, you would say?

[ Aww, that just gets a silly grin on his face for a moment as he regards their hands. Then he tries to use his hand to gesture to her, which doesn't work that well because his hand is connected to hers still. Oh well. ] If you asked for them right now, I would say that you were digging, and that's good because you're so smart, and then I'd say that I like your sneaky, and your jaw, and hips, and how you hang around and talk to Dummy every now and then and don't get angry when I do... This. [ He tries to gesture to himself that time and it still doesn't go any better, but he doesn't want to let go of her hand anyway. ] I could give you a lot of compliments.

[ Right at this moment she is having so much difficulty seeing how people ever find it difficult to deal with Tony while he's drunk because he's just being kind of adorable right now. Kind of very adorable, and tangled up with her a bit, and she's okay with both of those instances very much. They're very nice circumstances. And now he's even complimenting her, which granted she totally asked for but it's still got this weird warm feeling in her chest associated with it, because he likes her and tangible reasons are just good, she can understand tangible reasons for things easiest. Her smile is easy and light, laughing just a little bit. He can probably feel the tremors of it in her stomach muscles. ] You haven't done anything worth being angry at so far tonight. [ And very softly. ] Thank you.

[ He waves his hands again - both of them this time, since one of them seems to be occupied and he figures he'll try both of them to make sure the gesture happens at all. ] It doesn't usually go this well. This is going very well, actually. I blame you, personally. I think last time I was this drunk I blew up most of my house and had a fight with my best friend. That was actually most of the reason the house... Exploded. But I was dying so it was different. Not because the house blew up - I mean, I was already dying by then. So this is - this is going well. That feels funny, you should keep doing that, what are you doing, are you - you're welcome - are you laughing at me?
